He Walks With Me He Talks With Me.
The only way there can be a relationship with any two people that is going to last is for them to become alike. Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever and changes not, we must change to become godly, holy and righteous.
My Wife and I have been married for 27 wonderful wonder-filled years. She is the love of my life and I want no other. I would choose her again if I could do it all again. However, I don't want to do it all again. I am homesick for a city which has foundations, who's builder and maker is God.
Building a relationship with someone this special take time and so time passes and we can either decide that we want to go to the next level with a person and eventually open up every conceivable part of ourselves to them or wall them off and never quite know true love.
He Walks With Me He Talks With Me. We Are Closer Than Brothers.
Proverbs 18:24 (KJV) 24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
This doesn’t have to be a friend/friend relationship. It can be a mama/son or a boyfriend/girlfriend thing; this can apply to many different kinds of relationships, I have a friend who is closer than any brother ever could be. My friend is a man of sorrow acquainted with grief. He is a friend of sinners.
It must be a lonely thing to not have someone who we can tell our deepest and darkest secrets to; someone we know can always trust to keep our utmost confidence. Someone you do not even have to tell when you are hurting. Why?
Because friends like this know when there is something wrong with us, even when others don’t. Friends like this hear you when you are silent, even when others can't! They have been there for us for so long they can sense the smallest change in our countenance, our mood or emotions when we say nothing at all.
He Walks With Me He Talks With Me. He Tells Me There Is No Need For Masks.
With a mere acquaintance, it’s different. We might tell a colleague a little about our life, but we only tell them the good stuff, and that dramatized; we make sure we wear a mask for them.
The real shame of it all is that we sometimes try to wear this mask for Jesus, who does not look on the outside of a man like men do, He judges the heart.
When we pray, we ask him to forgive us for our little sins, and we watch what we say, and only ask for good things to happen to us, but we never ask him to search us deep within and root out the cancer of sin. We never ask our friend to remove the root of bitterness in us that is poisoning everything good in our lives, hurting some and destroying others.
How many of us sincerely asks him to look deep down in our heart and see if there is anything within us that needs changing or gutted from us?
We even tell one another to watch what we ask for, because we might get it, how stupid! What? You are offended that I would say that is stupid, but yet you imply that God is stupid.
My children used to talk backward all the time but I always knew what they meant, neither was I malicious. Is God a lesser being? Do you not know what the Scriptures say?
Luke 11:11-13 (KJV) 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
He Walks With Me He Talks With Me. He Tells Me There Is No Place For Sin In My Life.
Often times when the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, we just reason it away, or we have just been living life for so long with that sin, that it has just become a part of us, and we are calloused to it. How ignorant are we to think that Jesus doesn't already know what is in our hearts?
Jeremiah 17:9-11 (KJV) 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
We can’t hide our sins, we can only keep them from the healing power of the one who loves us most. When we do this we do nothing but embrace our own death, for the wages of sin IS death, while pushing away the author of life.
We should open ourselves up to the real forgiveness, healing, and acceptance that only God Himself CAN give.
Have you let Jesus look into your heart today?
