- Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
- Psalm 46:7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
- Psalm 46:11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
There are so many things that we face day to day that threaten to overwhelm us, and it can be so easy to let these things get us down. When it seems that we are tempest tossed in the midst of a vast and expanding ocean of trouble all alone, it is important to remember that the writer of the book of Hebrews assures us in chapter 13 and verse 5 that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us.
God is our refuge, our ever present friend in times of trouble.
Almighty Father, Your Word tell me plainly that Your promises are an anchor to our souls. Your Word proclaims that you will keep me in perfect peace when my mind stays upon you. You watch over the widows, the refugees, and the orphans; your eye is on the sparrow, and I know you watch over me.
Oh' God I place my trust in you for you are the guardian of those who are too weak, too tired, too broken to cry for themselves. You are there Lord, in the midst of the storms of life. When mountains shake, and leaders fall you alone abide. You are there when all seems impossibly lost.
We thank you, Lord, for your presence. Your deliverance is always with us for you are long suffering, and we can hide under your wings. Your eyes are always on your children. Your ears are attentive to our cries both day and night for you never sleep.
God is our refuge when we are broken-hearted
You are close to the brokenhearted for your Word says that a broken and contrite spirit will you not despise. You rescue your servants from the snares and traps the Devil sets for us, and you rebuke the devourer.
Father God, we pray for all those who are suffering today, which you will attend to their needs and remind us, dear Lord, that we are your hands and feet to do your work. Remember to pray for the oppressed, the obsessed and the possessed.
You are still our help in trouble, ever present, our refuge, Our God. You are our rock and fortress. I will not be afraid of what man may do unto me. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
